Description

This program provides the skills and concepts required to safely plan and conduct search and recovery dives. You will learn about search patterns, specialized dive plans, underwater communication, and how to recover small to medium-sized objects using specialized equipment like lift bags. You will earn the SSI Search and Recovery Specialty certification after completing this program.

  • Intent
    The SSI Search and Recovery program provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to safely and comfortably perform basic search and recovery dives for small objects.
  • Administrative Requirements
    Prior to training, students must have completed the program-specific Training Record, including: Statement of Understanding Privacy Statement Medical History form Waiver and Release of Liability and Risk Awareness Verification For previously certified students, the Continuing Education Liability Release form.
  • Requirements for Completion
    Complete all academic sessions and assessments outlined in the instructor manual for Search and Recovery. Complete a Search and Recovery final exam with a passing score of at least 80%. Complete at least one (1) pool/confined water session as outlined in the instructor manual for Search and Recovery. Complete at least two (2) open water training dives as outlined in the instructor manual for Search and Recovery.
