Science of Diving

Description

This program provides an in-depth and detailed study of physics, physiology, decompression theory, the aquatic environment and diving equipment. It is required training for most SSI Dive Professional programs, as well as some Extended Range programs. You will earn the SSI Science of Diving Specialty certification after completing this program.

  • Intent
    The SSI Science of Diving program provides students with an in depth study of diving physics, diving physiology, decompression theory, the aquatic environment, and diving equipment.
  • Administrative Requirements
    Prior to training, students must have completed the program-specific Training Record, including: Statement of Understanding Privacy Statement Medical History form (if in-water training is conducted) Waiver and Release of Liability and Risk Awareness Verification For previously certified students, the Continuing Education Liability Release form.
  • Requirements for Completion
    Complete all academic sessions and assessments outlined in the instructor manual for Science of Diving. Complete a Science of Diving final exam with a passing score of at least 80%.
